Lately, I have been working on a series of mini paintings inspired by Karlyn Holman, from Artist Network TV. She’s a great author, artist and teacher whose videos have helped me understand the basics of color and intriguing traditional and non-traditional styles. Her paintings are expressive and very beautiful and it leads you in to a colorful and very diverse expression of color which I wanted to emulate in my paintings.
So I studied her tutorials and I fell in love with painting doors and windows for some reason. I managed to learn some of her techniques in shadowing, foilage and how to express less with more. My doors and windows series is simply a study of techniques I’ve learned and experimenting my own.
Here is an example of a mini painting I did. ( Mini because it was literally on an 8.5 inch x 6.5 inch watercolor block) Its messy and well i didnt blend the door too well but that has its own charm. It really feels nostalgic and i really like how most of it turned out especially the door and foilage. I need to practice scenery more but I do believe that I have talent for this thing. What do you think about it?
I have a lot to learn still but the journey is fun!
This is really wonderful artwork, I look forward to seeing more you post! 🙂
Keep up the great work!
Love,
Isabella
