Tiny Paintings

I actually did something this weekend that made me quite happy. I did some watercolor tests/thumbnails on a piece of Arches 300 GSM Rough here it is below. I tested myself on freehanding some things and well I think I still need a lot of practice.

So, little bird on the top was a test on brighter colors. The Koi Fish is actually a test if I can actually paint fish and I think I did ok. the Inspire tag is an idea for a journal border, although my lettering needs a LOT of work. I love the feathers and the varying colors though. The Jellyfish is my tiny attempt .. but it is still a fail. The Cat and the snowy mountain is just a salt test. ( I put wayyy too much) and I did another feather one which I love. I would probably just delete the wonky lettering below.

It’s not that bad and in fact, I do like some of the designs that I came up with. I don’t mind sticking birdy and fishy on my journal actually or blowing them up for a full painting. So still I am a work in progress and here’s hoping for mastery and praying for improvement.

Jellyfish and Sushi

I am practicing my watercolor skills and have been experiencing a few bumps in the road. I mean, I could paint birds, cats and people. So I thought I could easly paint a jellyfish.

BUT WAIT. No, I can’t . kurage

That’s about the best I could muster,  BUT believe me I WILL conquer them. I will draw and paint these beautiful and majestic jellies and I will be able to draw their ethereal beauty.

I realized that to be able to paint a really good jellyfish, aside from their shape, and color, you need to learn how to paint light. because they glow. I want to paint that glow and to do that, I need to learn a LOT more.

So I decided to go another way.

I recently got a new watercolor sketchbook and so I decided that this should be filled with paintings that challenge me so I can learn more and eventually master watercolor enough to paint Jellyfish. I thought that I was stagnating and needing to step out of my comfort zone to be able to grow so, I decided to paint something very close to my heart.

The first challenged proved a bit successful. Don’t you think? I do think that it looks close enough to the real thing. I do plan to do more food painting in the future, actually, I think I could do jellies, soup and other realistic food art to challenge myself.

Anyway, I think I am hungry for sushi, so see you again soon!!

Where’s the Reset button?

Hello. Yes, I am here.
I know, I know I have been a very bad Blogger.
I know I have not even touched my blog for a while since I got busy with studying for the JLPT examinations. But that is no excuse to forget this.

I also have been painting/ drawing. I have been mostly working on blending on copic and watercolors and so I would be mostly blogging about those from now on. I have also started to do some calligraphy. So I hope I can write about that more as well.

Anyway, I just popped in to chat and well… here’s an L for you. Hope you like it!

I’ve really been slacking with blogging and I have no excuse. But anyway, I will TRY once again to be active since right now I don’t have to be in and out of the country.  I also have to keep track of my art stuff, since I did add a lot of stuff to my art materials since the last time.

I actually obtained quite a few more pens, some new stuff from my Sekaido trip in Japan. I also should share where to buy things and some reviews of the new stuff I have.

Recently, I also have been doing a bit of art, although I have nothing too big to post aside from Mikasa here which is a 4×6 card gift to a friend.

But that being said, I should keep on writing again and hopefully do some videos on how I have improved over the years. I mean, I think I did grow up.

Restart, Refresh, Rewind

Hey you guys! I know I have been absent for a while now and yep, I have been kidnapped by work and I have been in and out of the hospital a while now. Anyway, I am back and hopefully for good this time.

In my absence I never forgot art, so as a reparation gift and to make up for the absence, I am presenting the following video.

I will be restarting my VLOG and youtube channel as well as this blog and update my art here more. I do hope that you can support me once again.

The video below is my painting of Jiroutachi of Touken Ranbu. Love the character style and yes, he’s a guy. But he’s just so pretty! Hope you enjoy
