Return to the Riordanverse

Alright, so I thought that I was done with that phase of my life where my whole thing was about Demigods, Magicians, Legionnaires, Einherjar and failing fallen Greek gods, but apparently not. I ventured into the magical world of Reddit and realized that I have not failed the mythical world yet. I was encouraged by 2k members to come back to the Riordanverse, worlds created by author Rick Riordan and possibly stay there.

I love that universe, I love that world so I will come back.

As a first offering to the gods and to the demigods, etc. I drew something from Kane Chronicles as suggested by my dear sister. It is Anubis , the Egyptian god, in his Riordanverse form. I took visual clues from Viria and the official one to create my version of this guy. He ended up looking like a lost member of a certain k-pop boyband, but I will take it.

I enjoyed painting him and I think I will go back and redo all my Portraits of the demigods and characters. Plus maybe scenes from the books. What do you think about this kid?

Expect more Riordanverse art from me! Exciting!

Keep Creating!

Festus the Dragon and the ARGO II

Festus

Festus the Dragon, Watercolor, Coldpress 2015 by Little Miss Marikit (Maia Castaneda)

I am still on a Percy Jackson Hype. In fact, I should be posting art of the demigods right now ( I could probably do it after this quick post) but I am more excited to blog about this bronze Dragon.  Festus the dragon – a character from the Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan.  I love that series and I am on the 3rd read. ( well audio book – I love listening to the voices). This bronze dragon was created from Celestial Bronze, and fixed by Leo Valdez in Heroes of Olympus to transport them on their quest.

I painted Festus to challenge myself, really. I used to do a ton of details in my painting and I knew i could do it but had no inspiration to. I needed to move out of my comfort zone (doing busts) and start doing things with background and details. I am pretty confident in painting bronze (old things) so this was a good art piece for me.

I failed the BG though. I should have planned more.

Anyway, Festus was broken in the first book and was reborn into this

Arrietty in the Flower Garden

Arrietty in the Flower Garden

Arrietty in Flower Garden

This is a piece I did last week. Arrietty in the Flower garden was my attempt to capture the adventure and wonder that was Ghibli’s Arriety.

Information about Arrietty from Wikipedia

Arrietty is Arrietty, titled The Borrower Arrietty (Japanese: 借りぐらしのアリエッティ Hepburn: Kari-gurashi no Arietti?) in Japan and The Secret World of Arrietty in North America, is a 2010 Japanese animated fantasy film directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and scripted by Hayao Miyazaki and Keiko Niwa. It is based on The Borrowers by Mary Norton, an English author of children’s books, about a family of tiny people who live secretly in the walls and floors of a typical household, borrowing items from humans to survive. The film stars the voices of Mirai Shida, Ryunosuke Kamiki, Shinobu Otake, Keiko Takeshita, Tatsuya Fujiwara, Tomokazu Miura, and Kirin Kiki, and tells the story of a young Borrower (Shida) befriending a human boy (Kamiki), while trying to avoid being detected by the other humans. Toshio Suzuki produced the film and Studio Ghibli provided the animation. Read More…

Does anyone recognize him? He’s Philipp from Kamen Rider W as played by Mr. Suda Masaki. Hands down my favorite Tokusatsu show!  He is the Human 0Wikipedia– it was said that all the earth’s knowledge was in his head. And he’s the partner of Hidari Shoutaro as well as the Right side of the two in one Kamen Rider. Check out Kamen Rider W. It’s a fun show!

I did this portrait to practice my Portrait Skills since it seems that I am lacking in it.  He was done in 3 days time because I was busy with my first impromptu Art Show.  I did most of the painting at the art show and finished up at home. I used watercolors and just had fun with it!

The most challenging was his hair, but I think it looks okay! What do you guys think?
